After all these years, have you also noticed that most of us have been immersing ourselves in what we thought was most desirable, less stressful and most convenient? We wanted to guarantee we get them. We do all we can to make that happen but only to find out we failed to this day. We lost everything we tried to amass. What is worse is that we are still tormented with a lot of stress, with all the undesirables and inconveniences that we tried to escape from.
We all know the difference between Human Needs and Human Wants. We think we need a lot of things but we ignore our real Needs. We instead focus on what we want because they are usually more stimulating. And we can not seem to get enough of those wants. Why?
Maybe it is because we do not try to satisfy our real NEEDS.
What if today we decide to face our real Needs? And just what are these?
We need to develop real Living Human Values. This will be a slow process because it can not happen overnight. Begin by creating a list of intangible assets or values, virtues and skills we can develop inside of us. These are things that we can retain and never loose even beyond our last physical breath.
The list (a verbal or mental list may suffice) must contain Human Values. They seem to be relatively very boring concepts that we ignore as compared with the tangible, shiny and fast things our senses still want or long for.
We must try to attain as much of these Values as we can and work on them for a lifetime if we must. This is what the world needs today to survive and move on. This is the elusive solution to all our problems as you shall realize later. The problem has always been in us. And the solution or antidote has also been kept in us.
So do yourself and others a favor and create a genuine bucket list of things to work on inside yourself to jumpstart your personal evolution to make this world what it was really meant for.
Start now!
Satisfying our wants always lead to strange scenarios where our global economy is not producing commodities that last long.. that frequently break you have to bring them back for repairs or maintenance ... you see it from the small toys our kids play with...to the bigger toys for the bigger boys...to the food we eat... to the houses we live in...to the cars we drive and... it's even happening now to our own bodies... the drugs we take appear to be the one messing up our health and well being... we always get sick... what is really happening?... from my end I think we overdid something basic .... seems to me we abdicated everything to others (usually irresponsible corporations) that give us what we believe we don't deserve... but we in fact deserve. Think about that for a moment.
ReplyDeleteNow satisfying our needs will do just the opposite.... it will lead to genuine efficiency without creating large wastelands; it leads to sustainability, balance or harmony; it guarantees real joy and satisfaction. We better fire the representative we depend on, re-delegate everything back to ourselves re-awakening our sense of social as well as self responsibility.
Initially, we (the ordinary abused people who does not own any large institution) should become the wealth (tangible and intangible) generators ourselves ....then later empower simple people like us to be the same ... (hopefully this will become clearer as you read the blog)
Then finally we drop all these old/temporary concepts of inequality and dependence since everyone can become interdependent... "scarcity" will slowly be transformed into "just enough"... at the same time achieving zero waste.
I will have to ATTEMPT to discuss how we can do that as the blog unfolds.
